CBCT Applications in Dentistry & 3D Sectional Images Processing and Interpretation
Abstract:
CBCT is a crucial tool in dental diagnostics, yet many practitioners lack proper training in its use and interpretation. This course aims to bridge that gap by equipping dental professionals with essential skills for responsible CBCT use—covering exam prescription, 3D image processing, and diagnostic interpretation—while emphasizing radiation safety and clinical relevance.
Learning Objectives:
- By the end of the course, attendees should be able to:
- List appropriate diagnostic tasks in their specialty that are suitable to be investigated by CBCT.
- Formulate a clear CBCT Radiographic Examination Request including the required field of view and reason for the examination.
- Differentiate between diagnostic and non-diagnostic CBCT examinations.
- Process 3D images for diagnostic tasks relevant to their specialty using appropriate image processing software.
- Interpret sectional images and cross-reference findings to confirm diagnosis.
- Correlate clinical findings and case history with CBCT image findings.
- Formulate an interpretation report to describe the findings.
- Export and import CBCT examinations in DICOM format.
