Elevate & Expand : Mastering External Sinus Lift , Ridge Split and Expansion
HANDS-ON COURSES
16-17 Jan 2026, Fri 13:00 PM-21:00 PM- Sat 9:00 AM - 18:00 PM
Riyadh -Saudi Arabia
Area of interest:
Implant Dentistry, Periodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Resident, Advanced General Dentists
Aims and Learning outcome:
By the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- Understand the indications and contraindications for external sinus lift.
- Analyze CBCT scans for sinus anatomy and pathology.
- Select appropriate instruments, materials, and grafting options.
- Perform a lateral window sinus lift procedure step-by-step.
- Manage intraoperative complications such as membrane perforation.
- Plan implant placement in the posterior maxilla with sinus grafting.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify clinical indications for ridge split and expansion techniques.
- Diagnose and plan cases using CBCT and clinical examination.
- Select appropriate instruments and grafting materials.
Perform ridge splitting and expansion using manual and
mechanical tools.
- Manage intraoperative challenges such as cortical plate fracture
or membrane exposure.
Learning Objective
- 1. Build participant confidence in diagnosing, treatment planning, and executing external sinus lift surgery.
2. Develop surgical competence through hands-on training and cadaver/simulation practice.
3. Promote safe and evidence-based surgical protocols for sinus augmentation.
4. Foster critical thinking in case selection and complication management.
5. Define ridge split and expansion techniques and differentiate them from other augmentation methods.
6. List indications, contraindications, and anatomical considerations for ridge splitting.
7. Demonstrate the step-by-step surgical protocol for ridge split using conventional and piezo surgical instruments.
8. Apply case selection criteria in treatment planning for horizontal ridge augmentation.
9. Analyze radiographic findings (CBCT, OPG) for determining ridge suitability.
10. Perform hands-on ridge split and expansion on models/animal jaws/cadaver specimens.
11. Evaluate healing and integration outcomes following ridge split procedures.
12. Develop complication management strategies (e.g., fractures, soft tissue tears, inadequate expansion).
