Abstract:
Suturing is a critical skill in dental surgery, essential for promoting wound healing, ensuring tissue stability, and minimizing post-operative complications. Various suturing techniques are employed depending on the type and location of the surgical procedure, tissue characteristics, and desired healing outcomes. This paper reviews the fundamental principles, types, and indications of suturing methods used in dentistry, including interrupted, continuous, mattress, and sling sutures. Emphasis is placed on technique selection, material choice, and their impact on clinical outcomes. Understanding and mastering these techniques is vital for dentists, particularly in oral surgery, periodontics, and implantology, to optimize patient recovery and surgical success.
